The “SpongeBob Diner Dash” game is created after this well know cartoons character, SpongeBob. The “diner dash” part of the game title, let’s you know that the game is related to the food business. Actually, you’re gonna be representing SpongeBob who will be playing the role of a waiter, doing his best at serving customers in his dinner.
The first time you play the game a brief help information screen will be displayed, so you can learn the basics of the game. First of all you have to seat clients in clean open tables, by dragging them with your mouse. If you match them with the same seat color you’ll make them happier, which is good. Then, click on a table to pick up an order and click on the ticket station to drop it off. When food is done, you have to pick it up at the counter and serve food to clients on the correct table. When a table is done click on it to give the check. Finally, click on a table to pick up dirty dishes and drop dirty dishes off at the bus station. Take into account that you can only carry two items at once. You can earn extra bonuses by doing the same actions several times in a row.
The faster you serve the customers, the happier they’ll be. But if you take too long getting to them, they’ll get upset and if they get too upset they’ll leave. You need to earn a target number of points to win a level. If you fail to earn those points you lose an employee of the month star. If you lose all your employee of the month stars and the game is over.
There are several different customer types to know:
- Minnow: a friendly sort. Leaves good tips and is well-schooled in patience.
- Cod: is more patient while waiting in line and at the table, but this cod is a cad about leaving tips.
- Anchovy: will slip you a fin for a tip, but lacks patience.
- Grouper: tips alright, but whales at waiting in line, and flounders at the table.
- Sturgeon: this pill-of-a-gill is patient in line, tips well, but is fishy when it comes to waiting at the table.
- Vip Customer: if they leave happy you get to be employee of the month. If they leave mad, it will cost you lots of points.
When you enter the game, you’ll see the welcome screen with the following options:
- Change Player: the first time there’s no existing player. After you create one or more, they’ll be saved. When you enter into this submenu, you’ll be asked for a name as a new player. It’s possible to have a list of different players and record their performance. This way, you can play home tournaments with family and friends.
- SpongeBob’s Career: this option leads you to the introduction of the game and eventually to the first level of the game . You’ll be seeing some on-screen tips as you play the first time.
- Endless shift: this is an optional mode to play the game. There is no story going on, you just play as long as you can.
- Options: this is the menu from which you can set some game options like: sound effects volume, music volume, auto pause, and full screen.
- Help: this option leads you to a brief card-style help.
- High Scores and Quit: no further explanation required.
Once you are playing, you can press the MENU button on the screen to pause the game, go to the options menu, resume play, access help information, or go back to the main menu.
